We are excited to announce MAS will partner with t We are excited to announce MAS will partner with the Fractal Foundation (Albuquerque, NM) to present innovative art-infused science experiences in the planetarium! These experiences will immerse audiences in flights through fractal animations (or complex, never-ending geometric patterns that repeat at different scales). Each experience is unique and showcases repeating patterns of fractals that have been augmented with dramatic flight movements and dynamic color cycling – plus live presenters offering information about the mathematical formulas that define fractals occurring in nature, from the growth of the tiniest plant up to the shapes of galaxies!

The 6 p.m. performance will be for family audiences and describe what fractals are and where they can be found. The 7 p.m. showing will be “Fractals Rock,” which will be a more experiential production.

We hope to see you next Friday!

Ask an astronaut! Following the recent Artemis Mis Ask an astronaut! Following the recent Artemis Mission, do you have questions about what it’s like to go to space? To see the moon up close? To experience zero-gravity? Astronomy Day at the Museum of Arts and Sciences is your chance to ask!

Meet former NASA Astronaut Jack Schmitt! Harrison (Jack) Schmitt is the first scientist and 12th and last person to step on the moon. He will be joining us for a live Zoom Q&A on April 25, at 1:30. Apollo 17 launched in 1972, and completed 3 days of geographical exploration of the moon. Schmitt was the last astronaut to step out onto the moon’s surface.

Think of some questions and come out to the virtual call Saturday, April 25, at 1:30!
