Vision 2024
Our Vision for the Future
As the Museum of Arts and Sciences approaches its 70th anniversary, we are embracing an exciting opportunity to refine our role as a hub for inspiration, education, and creativity in Central Georgia. Guided by a commitment to interactive experiences and community connection, our vision focuses on fostering deeper engagement, inclusivity, and sustainability.
Our Key Initiatives
- Science Hall: Creating an interactive gallery adjacent to the planetarium, designed to spark curiosity and inspire learning through hands-on exhibits.
- Discovery House Renovation: Revitalized with engaging, interactive experiences for visitors of all ages.
- Pavilion and Animal Enclosures: Connecting visitors to the natural world through enhanced facilities and educational programming.
- Nature Trail Improvements: Increasing accessibility and enrichment along our nature trail, ensuring it’s welcoming to all.
- Upgrading Facilities: Improvements include better lighting, landscaping, and a new monument sign to enhance visitor experiences and wayfinding.
- Digital Initiatives: Launching a dynamic new website, an interactive collections database, and immersive digital experiences to reach broader audiences.
- Expanding Community Outreach: We are committed to hosting more public events at the museum and within the community to deepen our research, impact, and engagement.
Sustainability at the Core
Our vision is built on financial sustainability. Each initiative will be fully funded before work begins, ensuring we maintain strong financial reserves and responsibly steward our resources.
By focusing on interactivity and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math), we aim to elevate the Museum of Arts and Sciences as a premier destination for education and inspiration.
Ongoing and Upcoming Projects
- Ongoing Initiatives include the Full Dome Immersive Film Festival, School Field Trips (200-350 students/day), the Museum of Arts and Sciences (MAS) branded items in the Museum Store, and Wonderspaces (a two-year pilot program).
- Upcoming Projects: Science on a Sphere (programming and maintenance), Mini Zoo (Discovery House renovation), Spring Gala, and long-term planning for a Downtown Macon MAS Satellite.
