Current Openings:

The Museum of Arts and Sciences in Macon, Georgia, is currently hiring for three positions:

 

Museum Guides
Museum Guides work directly with the public and field trip groups, leading museum programs and engaging visitors in interactive activities. Responsibilities include:
– Leading museum tours and educational programs, including working with zoo animals
– Facilitating hands-on activities and demonstrations
– Setting up and taking down program materials and exhibits

– Working at the front desk: This includes greeting visitors, checking in guests, selling admission tickets, and providing information about exhibits.

– Assisting in the museum store: Responsibilities involve handling sales transactions, restocking merchandise, and providing customer service to enhance the visitor experience.

Qualifications:
– Outgoing, energetic personality with strong customer service skills
– Background working with children preferred
– Knowledge of biology, paleontology, or archaeology beneficial

 

Facilities Assistants
Facilities Assistants help maintain the museum’s physical spaces and exhibits. Duties include:
– Assisting with exhibit installation and de-installation
– Performing exhibit repairs and general facilities maintenance
– Setting up for special events

Qualifications:
– Detail-oriented and hardworking
– Ability to lift and move equipment/materials
– Basic handyman and repair skills preferred

 

Exhibit Technician
The Exhibit Technician helps create and maintain the museum’s interactive exhibits. Key responsibilities:
– Prototyping new exhibit ideas
– Troubleshooting and repairing existing exhibits
– Refining exhibit designs and functionality

Qualifications:
– Background in mechatronics or electronics
– Experience building interactive/hands-on exhibits
– Strong problem-solving and technical skills

All positions offer $9 per hour and provide excellent experience for those looking to build their resumes in the museum field. Working at an interactive science museum provides unique opportunities to gain skills in education, exhibit design, and public engagement.
