It’s not just a Field Trip, It’s a MAS Field Trip!

Come and explore the Museum through our amazing summer program, Destination Exploration! Your day will include a Live Animal Experience, Planetarium Show, and a guided tour of our 3-floor interactive Discovery House! Don’t forget to bring a packed lunch to enjoy after your programs on our beautiful outdoor pavilions and take a stroll on our story board walk!  After lunch, your group can enjoy self-discovery time on the Sweetgum Nature Trail, visit the Edenfield Bat Cave, and see the parts of the Museum you missed before heading home. Your admission is good all day!

Chaperone requirement

1 designated chaperone (teacher, parent, or adult) per every 10 students. Chaperones must remain with their group at all times.

Program seating

All students have first priority for seating. Programs are based on Georgia Standards of Excellence — it is not a tour of the entire museum.

Group size changes

Prior arrangement with our Group Tour Coordinator is required before increasing your group numbers.

Program Length

Each program is 30 minutes. After the field trip, you're welcome to explore other areas of the museum on your own.


Check-in

The Museum opens at 10:00AM, please arrive no later than 10:15AM to check-in. Be prepared to share the number of children (ages 3-17) attending (15 minimum). Be prepared to share the number of group leaders/adults attending (1 per 10 children is required)

$9.00 per child (ages 3-17) One FREE group leader with every 10 children. Additional leaders and chaperones $10.00 each 15 children minimum requirement. 110 group members *maximum.* group members include all children and group leaders/adults attending Museum Membership does not cover the cost of programming. Full payment is due upon arrival. We require that one person check in and pay for the entire group and use one form of payment (i.e. all cash, one card, or one check). If attending multiple days, please bring payment each day or pre-pay for all groups ahead of time. We accept checks made payable to Museum of Arts and Sciences, cash, Apple Pay, and all major forms of credit cards.

Please leave lunches on bus/group transportation. Your group may stay for lunch when your last program ends at 12:00. There is no indoor seating. The Museum has a large picnic area that offers covered and uncovered picnic table options at no extra cost. The Museum does not have food/drinks for purchase.

Parents may join their student’s field trip if the school allows and if the MAS is not at capacity for that day. Parent field trip admission is $10. Museum memberships do not count towards field trip admission. Parent payment should be made through the school. The Museum cannot efficiently take multiple payments before programming begins at 10 AM. Please note that the Museum can only accommodate the parent numbers that have been communicated by the school. Unexpected parents are not guaranteed seating in programs due to space limitations. The school must be present and checked-in before parents can enter the building. Check-in begins at 9:30 AM. There may be multiple schools present on the same day for a field trip. Students from all schools take priority.

Your group may visit our Museum Store during your lunch time or after your guided program. Please send up to 10 children at a time with a chaperone. We have several purchase options that are under $5

Photography and video are permitted. Please no flash photography.

The MAS is for everyone! If students or adults in your group require special accommodations, please let us know. The MAS building is ADA accessible with spaces available in programming areas for wheelchairs and an elevator to access all three floors of the Discovery House.

Live Animal Experiences: Programs may include several other guests and some animals may produce loud, sudden noises. 
Mini-Zoo: Some animals may produce sudden, loud noises that make students uncomfortable. 
Light Box (Top Floor of the Discovery House): The Light Box produces several bright colors using your silhouette. This may be triggering for students with epilepsy and/or overwhelming for students with sensory sensitivity. 
Balcony: The Top Floor of Discovery House has a balcony that overlooks the Mini-Zoo. This is accessed through two doorways. 
Planetarium: During these shows it can become very dark, very loud, and may include flashing lights that can be difficult for students with epilepsy or sensory sensitivity. Students may need to leave with an adult during the program. You will not be able to re-enter due to safety reasons.
