En Plein Air Painting Class

June 4, 2020 @ 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm

The MAS SweetGum Trail includes plants and flowers native to Middle Georgia and a water spot that reflects dappled soft light on its surface. Harry Stilwell Edwards’ cabin sits at the top of the trail to offer architectural interest. There are many spots to capture and many smaller vignettes to focus on if overwhelmed with the big picture. After several sessions, we will host an online and/or in real life art show of our efforts and experience.

You do NOT need to be a professional artist or an ‘artist’ at all. Just come! We start at 5 pm when the “Golden Hour’ of the day begins. This is when the light turns a soft warm gold and casts its magic across the landscape.

Bring your blanket, chair, drawing board, pencils, art supplies, paper, wine, and cheese or whatever will make this a delightful experience (maybe some bug spray to be honest). Dress appropriately for comfort and temperature. Families are welcome but each person must register. Young children will need supervision at all times due to dangers around the pond and poison ivy.

Kristy will instruct on the basics of outdoor painting and give encouragement and tips on how to get started, how to approach the subject of your choice, how to work with the medium you bring, how to navigate the elements such as composition, color, line, and space.

Tickets are $10/person or FREE for MAS members.
