Home School Field Trip Day: Our Fragile World
May 22 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
During this field trip families will learn all about the fragile balance of life on our planet. From animals and the environment to human impact and our position in space, we will explore how our “goldilocks” planet might not always be “just right!”
Check out our schedule and programs below!!
“Disappearing World” – During this live animal experience, you will learn the meaning of the words “threatened”, “endangered” and “extinct.” We will also explore programs designed to help save certain animal species, their environments and, ultimately, our world.
Recommended for grades K-12th.
“Space Cats” – During this planetarium show you will view Earth in the future when humanity no longer exists. Cats have evolved into intelligent beings that clean up the debris left behind from humans and go on space missions to clean up space junk.
Recommended for grades K-3rd.
“Firefall” – During this planetarium show you will explore impacts from comets and asteroids that have shaped Earth’s surface throughout time. You will also learn how life’s existence is tied to these space invaders that could wipe out Earth in an instance.
Recommended for grades 4th-12th.
“Climate Change” – During this Science on a Sphere program we will use NOAA’s global climate models generated by supercomputers for surface temperature, sea ice concentration, and sea levels to examine the relationship of Earth’s atmosphere, land, and oceans. We will also discuss how human impact is affecting our global climate.
Recommended for grades 6th-12th.
“Pollination Station” – During this STEAM activity, you will learn about pollination and create your own pollinator to take home.
Recommended for grades K-4th.
