Calling all junior Indiana Jones-style detectives to join the Ocmulgee Archaeological Society and the Museum of Arts and Sciences to explore the world of archaeology in Central Georgia. Make a clay pot to take home using tools and methods similar to those used by Native Americans in this area. Practice your excavation skills using a chocolate chip cookie. Investigate how arrowheads and other tools were made with a flint-knapping demonstration. Learn what an atlatl was and how it was used. Meet Stephen Hammock, a real live archaeologist, and hear about his work in “Exploring Macon’s Past: The Archaeology of the Ocmulgee River.”
